Farnborough International Studios proudly hosted the production of MobLand, the gripping new crime thriller from Paramount+, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan.
The highly anticipated 10-part series, which explores the explosive tensions between two warring London crime families, premiered on March 30 to 2.2 million viewers making it the streamer’s biggest global series launch to date.
Set and filmed across Hampshire, London and the Cotswolds, MobLand made extensive use of Farnborough International Studios’ facilities. During production, the unit based its operations on site while filming key scenes at Farnborough Airport, the historic Farnborough Air Sciences Trust Wind Tunnels, and the iconic Overton Papermill in nearby Basingstoke.
Produced in association with Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, the series was created and co-written by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, The Day of the Jackal) and co-written by Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari, Spectre).
A standout aspect of the production’s time at Farnborough was the use of the innovative onsite energy infrastructure. The MobLand unit base was powered entirely by the studio’s mains power, 30% of which is generated by the onsite solar panels. This approach supports more sustainable filming practices and underscores the organisation’s commitment to environmentally conscious production as a certified BAFTA albert Supplier and part of its wider sustainability programme.
Discussing the latest production film in Farnborough and its surrounding areas, Rushmoor Borough Councillor Julie Hall, Economy, Skills & Regeneration, said: “We are delighted that this hit Paramount Plus series has used many sites around Aldershot and Farnborough with their base at our leading filming facility Farnborough International Studios. The borough of Rushmoor and surrounding areas offer a plethora of unique and interesting locations for filming and we work to support filming teams in their ambitions for location shoots here .”
